Blue Lily Family Photos 2012

Posted on by Lisa Parnell

This year I decided it was time for me to get out from behind the camera and get some family photos taken by a professional photographer. I found Blue Lily Photography and love their use of color, it was a perfect match. These photos were taken in the Pearl District in downtown Portland, I love all the color and textures. Here are a few of my favorites.

Seattle Trip

Posted on by Lisa Parnell

It was a quick whirlwind of activity but fun. We stayed at the Hilton downtown which was a perfect location for lots of walking around the city. Lexi got to do some back to school shopping at Forever 21 and then picked up lots of cute Japanese stuff at Diaso.

Heading to Seattle tomorrow with Lexi and my mom. Lexi is so excited about visiting

The sun is shining!

Spring is flying by and the kids are soon to wrap up their school year. Cam decided this year not to play baseball and Lexi is playing competitve softball for the first time. Softball season is here and most of my time is spent watching her play, we have a Tournament almost every weekend in June.

I've been consistent about my daily workouts and getting to the gym. Fitness has now become a daily part of my routine. I am hoping Cam decides to follow my lead and join me this summer.

I am excited about the arrival of my "dream" camera on Friday, I sold my trusty Canon 50D and some older lenses I do not use to fund my new camera the Canon Mark III. I cannot wait to play. Lexi has promised me a photo shoot so we shall see how it goes.

I think it will be time for me to start a Project 365 again..

Keep on truckin!

I am so proud of myself for being consistent about going to the gym and monitoring my nutrition. All this hard work is paying off. I have lost about 10 pounds and many inches, most noticable in my upper body right now. I am starting to weight train 4 days a week and doing cardio 5 days. I feel amazing! My trainer is so motivating and pushes me when I feel like I've done enough.

Tonight is sew club with the girls then Tom and I are going out to listen to some music with friends. He is taking some guitar lessons and his teacher has a CD release party tonight. Should be fun.

As time flies by...

I cannot believe we are in the middle of February already! The last few weeks seem just a blur of activity. Lexi turned 10yrs old and she celebrated her birthday with a group of girlfriends, shopping at the mall and having a sleepover. It was fun and exhausting.

We are in the process of doing some home renovations. Painting, removing carpet and installing wood floors. I've been really drawn to dark woods lately, Pininterest has been such a source of inspiration. Tom is doing his office first. I will be relocating my studio/sewing space to a larger room. Yipee!!

Heading to the Portland Modern Quilt Guild meeting tonight. Should be fun!

2 weeks of success

YES! Results at last. 2 weeks into my training program, 6lbs down and 3% body fat gone. Goodbye fat!! I am so motivated to continue.

Here's to a healthier and leaner me.

Posted on by Lexicam

I am a week into my new program at the gym. I am fed up of sweating my ass off and not seeing any results. So, I hired a personal trainer. It has been an eye opening experience. I am now eating every 2-3 hours, drinking 96oz of water daily, having protein every time I eat. 40minutes of cardio, not a struggle as I love doing classes anyway. Zumba and Turbo kickboxing are my favorites. I will work out with my trainer 2x a week till I reach my goal which she estimates will be about 12 weeks or so. So far so good, hopefully I can stick with this for the long haul. Goodbye body fat!

Today I realized that I am not really hungry when I eat more often. In the past I would tend to skip breakfast except for coffee and would not eat often for 4-5 hours then I would be so hungry I would over-eat whatever I could get my hands on.

I am really excited and motivated about my health, it's been too long.

I am taking some pattern making classes at Portland Sewing and really enjoying it. I am looking forward to making some clothes for myself that actually fit. Sharon is a wonderful teacher.

Enjoying Cam playing football and standing on the sidelines with my camera, this past weekend I rented a long lens and got some great close-up shots.

Fall is in the air. Time to make soup and sip wine by the fireplace.

Making a dream a reality

Posted on by Lexicam

I've always wanted to own my own business. It's official, Lexicam Studios, LLC. I'm taking some apparel business classes, to learn the ins and outs of the apparel industry. There is so much to learn and do but I am so excited about this adventure. I've always considered myself a creative and have spent years honing my skills and I finally have figured out what I want to do. My dream is big, to one day, go wholesale and turn my Etsy store into a big business selling my children's clothing line to boutiques, maybe even home trunk shows. I have so many ideas swimming in my head. So glad my dream is finally a reality. I am prepared to work hard and I know it will be a bumpy ride but here goes....

Portland Modern Quilt Guild

Last night I went to my first guild meeting and joined the Portland Modern Quilt Guild. I was in awe of all the talent and hope to learn many a thing over the upcoming year and foster some new friendships. What a fun group!

New Year, new ideas..

I recently had the pleasure of meeting an incredibly creative photographer, Shannon Sewell. I am drawn to her inspired creative photo shoots of children. I have been following her blog and noticed she mentioned that she would like to hire an assistant. So, I emailed her ,we chatted, and Tom and I crocheted some hats to be used at an upcoming photo shoot. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is just the beginning of something. I am just so happy making things. Goodbye nursing, hello sewing, knitting, crafting!

Whew!!

So pleased to have the Christmas crazies leave our house. Looking forward to the New Year and excited for 2011. I am working hard on catching up on Project 365 and so proud that I was able to complete it. It's wonderful to have a years worth of photos.

This year I will tackle Project 52 and will be working on my post processing. I would like to define my style. LOVE to learn! I will plan on posting one photo a week.

I'm packing!!

Posted on by Lexicam

I'm heading off to the East coast to spend some time scrapbooking with friends in New Hampshire. It's been ages since I've paper scrapped but I am looking forward to it. I have a couple of projects in mind. I have my Daily December album all prepped and ready to put together.  I printed over 200 photos, so I'm having trouble deciding what I want to scrap.  I'm sure once I get going my creativity will flow that and the wine.

Yipee!!

I will be creating pages for Hazel Olive Designs over at 2 Peas in a Bucket. Looking forward to creating with her vintage stuff.

Rejection never gets me down.

No luck getting onto any creative teams lately, regardless I will push on and still apply for those designers I love. While browsing today, I did see that Hazel Olive Designs is opening a new store at 2 Peas, I had the opportunity to use her products ages ago at Pixel Canvas. I might just go for this one!

I've been sewing a bunch lately and am looking forward to a couple of sewing classes coming up. One is  a basic garment sewing class and another is applique. I'll post some pics when the projects are done.

Getting myself organized to head to Boston then New Hampshire at the end of the month to join THE SCRAPPIES, it's been ages since I scrapped on paper and I am really looking forward to spending time with good friends. I'm trying to decide what pics I want to scrap..decisions..decisions..

Kauai, Hawaii

Posted on by Lexicam

I've been slacking on my Project 365 for most of Feb and March, so I decided to post some pictures anyway. Just returned from a vacation in paradise. Kauai is my kind of Island, laid-back and beautiful. The scenery was breath-taking. We had a week filled with sunshine and adventure. Back home now, I miss the ocean breeze and listening to all the sounds of nature. Must go back soon!
